Seattle Washington Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks notched their first one-sided win of the season, a 28-22 victory over the Washington Redskins at CenturyLink Field. The defense fired Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins three times to preserve the Seahawks' 20-15 victory on Sunday. It was Seattle's first win over Washington since the Storm's 2010 win and took Seattle back to the Super Bowl. The win gives Seattle its first playoff victory since 2010 and is the first for Seattle since they captured the NBA crown in 1979 and the second for the Sonics since 2009.

The NFL awarded Seattle its 28th franchise to play in the 64,884-seat Kingdome on June 4, 1974. Before the stadium was built, however, the Seahawks had to play two seasons on the campus of the University of Washington.

The Seahawks opened Seahawks Stadium in 1974, dropped their first game on the road and dropped five of their next six games. The loss, which was the Seahawks' fourth in five games, dropped the Seahawks to 5-6 this season, their worst start in franchise history.

The Seattle Seahawks came to a 12-4 lead and didn't have their best offensive performance of the season against the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks' offensive line forgot a lot to do when Russell Wilson struggled in a game the 49ers won 13-6. Wilson looked nervous from the start, fumbling on the first attack and the Seahawks on the first, and they managed only one field goal in the second half.

Marshawn Lynch scored on a 24-yard touchdown run and it looked bleak for Seattle until Chandler Catanzaro touched down the ball and hit the uprights to give the Seahawks a chance to win. Seattle's Chris Matthews recovered the kickoff, and it took Lynch just four plays to score another 24-yard run when Wilson converted the two-point attempt to give Seattle a 22-19 lead. The Seahawks made it a three-and-out, and Wilson led them to a touchdown with a one-yard run.

The Seahawks controlled and dominated the game in the second quarter when Marshawn Lynch scored the first touchdown on a 24-yard run on the first play of the second quarter.

Hyde's run was the longest of the season for the Seahawks, who launched their hasty attack against Washington. Seattle ranked first in the NFL in rushing yards allowed for no rushing in the final six weeks of this season, matching the Rams' rushing touchdown total in their first six games.

Week 7 brings another prime-time showdown when the Seahawks face the Arizona Cardinals. With both teams currently battling for at least an NFC wild-card spot next season, games in the NFC West have become a must-watch - television. The Seahawks are in the most competitive league in the entire NFL, but they didn't win in 2016, and both franchises are coming back - too - from losses to the New York Giants and New England Patriots.

Russell Wilson showed his ability to win games again in the fourth quarter as the Seahawks shocked the New England Patriots 24-23 at Century Link Field. It was only the second playoff home game for Seattle since 2014, after losing in Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks have won 10 of their last 10 home games, with a record of 7-2-1 against opponents from the NFC West. One of the best teams in football had its best season in 2014 when they won Super Bowl XLvIII and brought the first major sports championship to Seattle. The success continued in 2015, when Pete Carroll led them to their first playoff appearance in 16 years and their second in three years.

The win improved the Seahawks to 5-0 at home, but the road continued to lead to heartbreak as they suffered a 24-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Seahawks set an NFL record for ineptitude in the fourth quarter and netted minus 7 yards to pull away from a 20-17 defeat by the New York Giants. In the playoffs, the Seattle Seahawks pounced on a field goal in their first playoff game in four years and lost to the Green Bay Packers, with Russell Wilson being hit five times.

The Seahawks continued their resurgence on the road, while Wilson and Baldwin continued to lead. Seattle converted a 13-play, 97-yard drive that included two touchdown passes from Wilson to Baldwin and a touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree. Russell Wilson had his best game of the season as the Seahawks defeated the Baltimore Ravens 35-6. Washington is targeting its second straight win after beating the Seattle Seahawks to secure a playoff spot with a victory over the Washington Redskins.

The Seahawks lead the NFC West division, but the Washington football team is something of the opposite of Seattle, causing chaos in the first half of this season. The group, led by star quarterback Russell Wilson and star wide receiver Doug Baldwin is in a battle for a playoff spot with the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants. Washington will host Rivera's old team, the Carolina Panthers, on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET when they travel to Seattle for the second time in two weeks.
