Newcastle Elementary School Reviews

Newcastle Elementary is one of the best elementary schools in Issaquah School District. My children started at Newcastle since the first opening day 5 years ago. They have excellent IEP teachers. I cannot express the gratitude and thanks to every teacher that has helped my son with his learning disabilities. The Sage program is very good as well. The music program is excellent and Mrs. Wood is one of the best teachers, I believe, in the entire district. The environment is safe. As with any schools, your will find great teachers and lousy teachers and believe me, I have dealt with all of them. My kids love it there and so do I. I highly recommend this school for parents with/without kids with learning disabilities. I wish this school would go up to grade 8 and make middle school as enjoyable as elementary school. Keep up the great work!!!!

The chorus and music program at Newcastle is fantastic! Mrs. Wood is a phenomenally gifted and enthusiastic teacher.

Amazing school! This is our fourth year and my oldest is now in Middle School. The 5th grade curriculum really prepares them well for middle school. The PTA is very inviting, great socail opportunities for parents and children. Amazing Principal!

My children had a positive social experience at Newcastle. The families are very friendly and welcoming, but I did not get that same sense from the school. I attempted to become involved in the school community but never felt that welcoming warmth. I found a lack of connection between the principal and families as well as a lack of leadership. The children did not have a positive academic experience. That love of learning they once had is now gone. The district is having its financial troubles, asking for more funds and limiting jobs, increasing class sizes and cutting programs. I found a lack of concern for academic growth and more of a concern for their own well-balanced life-styles. Like we'd all like to job share a 2/3-day work week. A definite loss of connection between child and teacher. This school was not for us.

My children have both been very successful at this school academically & socially. I have 5th & 2nd graders. My daughter, whom school comes easy to, has been engaged by her classroom studies and has challenged by the SAGE program. My son, who deals with SPD, has been supported by his teachers & staff. Even with his personal challenges, with the school's support, he is testing at the same level as our daughter. Thank you Newcastle Elementary!

This is a wonderful school. My children have enjoyed the teachers and staff. They make you feel welcome and important!

My child is just blooming in Ms Allen's kindergarten classroom. We are so pleased with her caring, professional manner and dedication to providing the best learning for our children. We are delighted to be at Newcastle Elementary.

My son is Ms. Lo's first grade class and he is doing very well. We enjoy hearing about his day and the healthy educational challenges he faces. It is a great learning environment and we look forward to a super year!

Our family has been with Newcastle Elementary since its grand opening day 4 years ago. The teachers and staff are great and full of energy! I spent a lot of time helping out in classrooms and are pleased to see how my children are growing and learning each day. Here are some of the awesome teachers that my kids had in past years: Mrs. Tinnea, Mrs. L., Miss Lo, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Miyahara, Mrs. Baier and Mrs. Wood! Thank you!

Newcastle Elementary School is amazing. My son is in 1st grade with Mrs.L and she is a dream come true. She challenges our son everyday and makes him push himself while at the same time having a blast doing it. This school is so full of energy and enthusiasm from the entire staff. The parents are incredibly involved and generous. We are so happy to be a part of Newcastle Elementary.
