“Being a student, obviously, school isn't what I look forward to in the day, and I'm not a huge fan of Tyee Middle School, but looking at TMS in comparison to other middle schools in the district, Tyee is really a great school. Of the percentages of students that qualify for free and reduced lunches in the Bellevue School District Tyee is the second best in terms of low percentages in the district with 14%. This shows how most kids arent in a financial crisis. But this brings up another issue with social status. Most of the kids at our school are very friendly, but there are certain clothes that everyone wears (expensive, I may add), and there is a lot of gossip. This doesnt mean that people are mean, just that there are rumours a lot. The teachers are mostly nice, and able to work one on one with parents/students.”

“Tyee is one of the best middle schools in Bellevue, Washington. This school has very good WASL scores for all three grades, and the grades of the students are very high each trimester they get report cards.”

“Tyee is a great school to put your child into. The staff are very nice and the children are also somewhat cooperative. The teachers are also great at what they do with helping the kids to understand what they are trying to learn. There are ups and downs about Tyee such as cliques but what school doesn't have them? I recently transferred schools and I realized and was amazed at how different the schools were. There was barely any fights, no pregnant teens, and a lot of the kids care more about their grades, and the school food is better than most! Overall this is a great school to enter a child into and I fully recommend it!”

“The teachers were very nice and seemed to know their stuff. There are 5 classes of orchestra taught by a very good teacher. My child sid the amount of PE equipment was effiecient and my child said she got a very good experience from Tyee.”

“I have a young 6th grader at Tyee middle school and the transitiona has been wonderful. She has been blessed with great teachers that give her the confidence to excel. I can definitely hear a difference in her musical skills, (orchestra) considering she doesn't take private lessons, I'm impressed. The sports program is a good program for those kids ready to have fun playing a sport without intense competiveness. The 6th grade camp was indeed the highlight of her 6th grade experience. I've often asked her about bullying within the school and she hasn't had any experience or known of anyone who has. I highly recommend Tyee as your school of choice.”

“Tyee is the best school to be at. though in the 7th grade all classes are honors, making it hard for some but really easy for others. so people fail classes becasue they are not capable of it.”

“My daughter switched to Tyee Middle School because she was very unhappy at her 'better' rated middle school. At Tyee she has found the most caring adults (both teachers and non-teaching staff) she has ever met. The students are also great-she has made friends with many of them. Tyee is as good or better than her other middle school academically. We are very greatful to this fine school.”

“Tyee works hard to provide the ideal learning environment for a large variety of learning styles. Parent involvement is very high compared to other schools in the puget sound region. Building leadership is focused on providing the best environment for each and every student. This is the best school I have worked at in my years as a teacher.”

“It's about average overall. Most of the teachers are pretty laid back and the office staff as well. Its a pretty good school because they urge all students to do well in each subject.”

“Tyee Middle School is a really really cool school and they have awesome activities. The parent envolement is at a pretty normal level. Overall, Tyee Middle School in Bellevue, Washington absolutly rocks!”
