Spectrum Learning Community Reviews

My son was 4 1/2 years when we enrolled him in Spectrum in Sept. 07. Not only is he already reading ( he did not even know any phonics previously), his confidence and people skills have really improved. We give credit to the teachers and the teamwork that we see at Spectrum. The teachers and the director greet my child with a smile every morning. My son learnt here how to share and get along with others by expressing his feelings appropriately. We are grateful we found this school for our child.

We have had our three children attend Spectrum Learning Commuinity one after another, since 2002. I just enrolled my third child in September 2007. Both of my older children were alreading reading at a 1st grade level by the end of their preschool year! The Director and teachers have a systematic reading program that motivates children to learn phonics and then reading in a fun and hands-on manner. I certainly think Spectrum Learning Community engages the children in a balanced way. Our children are exposed to many different kinds of activities, and they are very proud of their work! My bother's child has also attended this school, and we have had similar experieces.

We are pleased at the Director's leadership and the teavhers. Discipline is positive, and other parents have shared their children's confidence has grown. Concepts are taught in a hands on manner. A certifiedteacher was found to replace one who was repeatedly sick. We have been sending our children, one after another, to this school and teacher turn-over is typical in Bellevue schools due to teachers moving, changing careers, etc. Our older son goes to private grade school, where it happens too

We pulled our child out of Spectrum because of a continual lack of demonstation of the educational philosophy she claims to have, as well as ongoing disorganization in the school, and very high teacher turn over. The way in which the director speaks to the staff, as well as the children is disrespectful and against everything she says she stands for. But anyone can talk the talk, only the truly dedicated and nurturing child care providers can keep their teachers and families.

! am a teacher at this school. ! have worked here for the past 2 years. I have found the teachers and the director very supportive of each other's efforts. Our discipline methods are consistent and positive. I know we have had parents who were disgruntled because they were asked to pay tuition on time, or were unwilling to provide their children a stable home-life, which affected thir child's behavior at school. Our classrooms are open and parents can visit at any time, so whatever is being purported on this website is simply not true. Malicious and false reporting does not serve any purpose.

We are pleased with the Director's leadership and the way she works with parents and teachers for the benefit the children. She is fair and focused on doing what's best for the children. The teachers also work well together and support each other in creating a good environment for children.

The committment to high educational standards is exceptional here. When one teacher took an extended sick leave, another equally qualified certified teacher was found to take her place. The other teachers have been here a long time. The Director, Uzma Butte works with the teachers to create a curriculum to help our children grow in every way. My child comes home happy every day.

incredibly high teacher turnover rate over a short period of time. the sudden lose of teachers without reason was a bit surprising

I have 2 children there, and although I cannot compare the curriculum since this is the only school they have ever gone to, I can whole heartedly say that they love going there and I feel it to be a safe environment for them. They have also become much more confident since going to school.

We are very happy with Spectrum. The teachers are warm and welcoming. Every evening when I pick up my child at 5/6pm he is not ready to come home. My son will also be attending Kindergarten there since Spectrum is an accredited school and they have certified teachers. I love the teacher:student ratio of 1:8. I plan to send my daughter there too for preschool.

My son was there from 2005-07. He looked forward to going to Spectrum every morning. The teachers use all kinds of materials to teach concepts, and every thing is taught in a hands-on manner. My son learnt a lot through fun and games. He is reading already even though he has not turned 5 yet. He also made lots of friends. The teachers are warm and nurturing, including Ms Butte, and engage the children in respectful conversations. Spectrum is a positive place for children. I was crying buckets on the last day of school for my son will no longer be in the safe environment that Spectrum provided.

A well-rounded program. Both my children attended, one after another,so we were there for a total of 4 years from 2003 through 2007. I feel grateful to the teachers at Spectrum for taking such good care of my children while I was at work. Both my children were excited to go to school every morning. I have seen my children grow in every way. Having a Director who is also a psychotherapist really makes a difference. Spectrum is a safe nurturing place for all children. I happily recommend it to any parent who is looking for a preschool/kindergarten for their child.

Our school has a highly creative environment, where children are excited about their experiences. Our teachers incorporate brain dance into the routines to help children develop mind-body integration. We learn concepts in a hands-on experiental way with lots of active participation, instead of having children sit down quietly. All our teachers assistants are offered yearly contracts. One moved to California to be with her sick mother, and another assistant teacher enrolled in a full-time teaching course, and was not able to give time at the school.

a disorganized and scattered enviornment. it is also been interesting to me as a parents that the teacher turnover rate is so incredibly high.
