It is probably fine for most kids, but our child needed a special needs program customized for him which has not been available. The school program has dramatically deteriorated due to several headmaster changes. While my child was here, so that it is at best mediocre. currently. The special advanced algebra class for 8th grade was cancelled just before he reached 8th grade, and the caliber of most of his English teachers has been shockingly poor. It has therefore given none of the advantages of a huge school, with all of the disadvantages. In a beautiful, bucolic setting.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 4 2006-03-09 “I've read that Montessori schools aren't for every child, but I can say that our experience at Cedar River Montessori has been wonderful. Our 3 year old son, who is in the early education primary class, has thrived there. The academic program at this early stage focuses mainly on the very basics of reading/math/science, etc, and daily life activities. But their methods inspire the child to explore and discover and to develop a love of learning. It is a very 'hands-on' style of teaching, with a great student-teacher ratio (2 teachers in his class of appx 20 kids). There is a high level of parent involvement, w/ lots of community building activities avaliable to bond the families together (totally voluntary). Because it's a small school, there are not much sports programs, but plenty of music/art and other extracurricular activities. Highly recommended!”
