“Bellarmine is an excellent quality school for academics, education, and religious faith. This might not seem apparent during your kid's first year or two at Bellarmine (especially the religious aspect), but like any good school, it all comes together in the end. There are several excellent retreats at Bellarmine, most particularly the Junior Encounter, which virtually all the student go by choice, and where I have witnessed some people do a complete 180 on life. Bellarmine is a great schoo and has all the great aspects of high school rolled with religion.”

“My son was in the class of '98 and I felt at the time, and still do, that the education he received at Bellarmine was excellent. The educational experience included both the basics, but also were strong in languages (Japanese, Italian, Russian, etc.) and sciences (a fine marine biology program) but also went into ethics, community service, music and, of course, a strong sports program for both the boys and the girls. The teachers that I met were all strongly motiviated and interested in the students as individuals as well as students. As one former student stated here, Bellarmine does have its problems and I did not always agree with how things were handled, neither did I have all the facts. Overall, the education my son received at Bellarmine was well worth the money spent. If I had other children, I'd definitely put them through Bellarmine also.”

“My son graduated in 2002. He attends a highly selective university and is performing very well there. He is well grounded in academics, morals, and partcipates in athletics. He continues community service activities as a college student just like he did as a high school student. Community service and involvement at Bellarmine was the beginning of a life's work not just a ticket to get into this top flight school. Yes, Bellarmine like all schools, has its problems. Bellarmine is not isolated from society. Its faculty and staff are only human, not divine. Mistakes are made, punishment administered, behaviour corrected, and life lessons are taught and learned in the context of the Jesuit philosophy. Overall, Bellarmine prepared my son for life, not just college.”

“This school has a well rounded class selection. I attended Bellarmine , my dad attended Bellarmine and my kids all attended Bellarmine. After graduating all of us were heads up over all the other students in going to College and getting great positions within todays work force.”

They want to see us succeed and understand the material. The campus is beautiful. The students themselves were always superb because they accepted all kinds of people and even though their were class distinction times, every class knew eachother anyways. Great school!”

I went to annie wright (another good private school in tacoma) then went to a public school. After spending 2 years at a public school I wanted out. So i pushed myself in to Bellarmine and am very happy”

“I am a graduate of Bellarmine Prep and while the religious aspect of the school is incredibly constructive to the learning process, and also well taught, there are many shortcomings in other facets of the school. First off, the administrators running the school are generally ineffective. 'Concerned parents' at the school are primarily made up of wealthy individuals because the hard working blue collar families that spend 10% of their income on sending their son/daughter there does not promise a source of income for the school beyond the usual tuition. Some teachers are excellent and inspirational, while others lack experience or even degrees! The school has also found extreme financial difficulty following several poor decisions on the part of the administration and board. The student utilities are extraordinarily poor and counselors are only present to force every student into a four-year university, not to solve student-student conflicts (high paid alums give more money in donations). Many parents give the credit to Bellarmine for training their students well and getting them into expensive ivy-league universities, but it is not Bellarmine that deserves this credit. In most cases, the credit is due to the hard working and extremely resilient students who attend Bellarmine. Those who do not meet the criteria above quickly realize this and are pushed out of the school by blacklisting administrators. The rest of the credit is due elsewhere. Believe me; private schools will do anything for money. I graduated Bellarmine and went on to a four-year university of good standing and reputation, but I did it without the cooperation of the counselors, and rather, the purposeful interference of them. I offer this advice: consider another private school. Private education is a very useful tool, but not at Bellarmine.”

“A great school to go to. I have a sister who wants to come back and teach there, and it has inspired me to be a better person in life. All the teachers are nice and very rigorous in their teaching methods.”

“My daughter and two sons all graduated from Bellarmine, as did I and my husband. We all feel like we never left the Bellarmine Community and are more than happy with the excellence the school provides. All our kids were involved with music, the school employed a world reknowned teacher, clinician and composer named Andrea Klouse, and we were all involved in theater. Bellarmine was worth the tuition we paid because our kids got more than an education. They gained Christian morality, learning skills and a foundation to base life on.”

We feel that the school did an outstanding job of educating their mind and of furthering their spiritual development. Plus the school had top-notch athletics for them to participate in.”
