Skyline High School Reviews

It is a great school. The teachers are there to help you. There are flaws though. I think that sports play to much of a part in it. The kids are rude and cruel. They are rich and expect things to be served to them on a silver platter. I think that it is not the schools fault though, it is the parents. There are still some good kids though. There are good music programs and other things you can join. It is challenging but later you will be greatful for it.

Skyline High School is extremly challenging and is horrible for the average student. I would only reccomend it to students who think the average school is too easy and wants more of a challenge. The only thing I like about Skyline is the football program. Alot of the students are very rude to teachers and their other students. As a student of Skyline, I would not recomend this school to other students.

Much of this info is old. Skyline NOW in our exp (06 grad & a jr):SHS's had public problems in admin over past 3-4 yrs. Suffers from poor culture that must be addressed top down. It is an adversarial one, not a collaborative one. Yes there are some wonderful teachers, but it's 80/20 rule. Setting bar high is good; realistic support structures to achieve that is what's lacking.

I think this school is an extremely challenging and harsh environment. Many of the students are disrespectful and I don't think there are that many good teachers on staff. A lot of the kids are stressed out and not happy. Great advanced orchestra program, but lack of AP classes is definitely a huge downfall.

I enjoy the vary of classes besides the lack of Art programs. Over all in a parents view Skyline is a great school but in my eyes it is not the best environment for some students.

As a graduate of Skyline High School, I would NOT reccomend it. The school itself is good and the teachers are fine but the students are not nice to put it lightly. The curriculm is very challenging average students do not do well. I was in the IB program which was very hard, 3+ hours of homework a night and my friends and I would often study all night long for the tests. Many of the good teachers leave because the parents can be so demanding and the students can be disrespectful.

Great school, nice facilities. High faculty turnover in initial years, but has stabilized and established itself as leader in KC.

Skyline High School is a very challenging school, almost too challenging. A lot of the teachers don't have good realationships with us. I've had very few good teachers that I learned a lot from. It is a horrbile atmosphere for a lot of the students. Most of the students are judgemental and cruel.

Skyline is a great school. There are absolutely no safety issues and teachers are great. It is a challenging and rewarding school.

The classes are all really rigorous and most students do fairly well on standardized tests. Skyline also offers the IB program which is actually more challenging than AP and there is a diploms if a student meets all requirements. Skyline also has the best theater program in the area with many students coming through NEVAC to take advantage of it. The sports at the school are also thriving, with the varsity football team just barely losing the state championship in their first season in 4A.

Skyline High School is great. It is 100% safe and the academics are very good. Its athletics and academics are top 5 in the state. The teachers and staff are the best and very kind. They help with any needs. My son and daughter graduated Skyline in 2001. They got accepted into Yale, MIT, and Harvard. The IB Diploma looked great on their transcript. They saved me money on one whole year of college. Now they graduate with majors in Chemistry and Biology (Double major).

As a top performng junior student at Skyline, I just want to share an insider perspective of our school. I think it is fair enough that I give my own opinion of Skyline. I am probably in a better position than most parents. It is very important that some parents should start getting a grip of themselves and stop accusing Skyline of being at fault in their children's low performance in school. It is always easy to put a blame on the school. Doing well in school can be traced to a nurturing home with responsible parents. We go to school to learn. Our personalities, values, and character are developed in our own homes, and not in school. If we have a very good foundation at home, where we are taught how to work hard, we shouldn't have problems doing well in school. In junior class, it is sad that a lot of students don't have the kind of home I have, where my parents know what their priorities are. I don't think there is any other way to explain it. Skyline is not for the faint hearted. Skyline is a school of heroes. If your kids adore super charged education and extreme challenges, Skyline is for them.

I think Skyline offers the kind of education that prepares students for selective colleges. I understand how tough it is for a lot of students trying to cope with the rigors of the school work. I heard all about it. The regular course program is a 'killer'. My son got into MIT. Skyline played a huge part to it. There are schools in the Issaquah school district where students have the option of transfering.

I graduated from Stanford. I am grateful to Skyline for the tough preparation they gave me. If it weren't for Skyline, I don't think I'd have the confidence to go through the dizzying challenges at Stanford. A diploma from Skyline will get you to any top school.

Skyline is not for everyone. The regular courses offered at Skyline are considered college level classes and provide more than enough challenges to any student. If students want more challenge, they can take IB courses. Having IB courses on the transcript are very highly sought after by top colleges around the country. Thanks to Skyline, my daughter got accepted at Harvard.

Excellent school if you have a high achieving student. Our daughter earned a 4.0 her first year of college at Michigan. Has gone back to Skyline administration to thank them for teaching good study habits. She hopes to be a doctor in 7 years and attributes her success to Skyline High School.

We are new to Skyline HIgh School this year and have found that even though the school claims to have an intrest in every student it is just not true. My child has problems understanding his math teacher (teachers language) has voiced his concern and yet issue has not been addressed. It spends so much time on stressing sports (football) what about other activities? How can they claim to be the one of the best in the state when present and past students can't wait to get out of there? Let Skyline High School's administratrs ask the tough questions ask students for the truth, let them look at themselves? What are they doing wrong? They have problems and refuse to address them.

Skyline is a very good school. It is one of the best in the state, however the students are required to think a lot and it's very challanging. Skyline is highy involved with sports and academics. Football is very big at school and so is learning. It's quite crowded however I do highly recommend that you take a close look.

Skyline is a great school- disciplined, challenging, and exciting for the students as they are constantly involved in and informed of extra curricular activities.

Skyline is a good school but has some problems.
