Though music is her first love, she devoted her life to helping people through her nursing and then opticianry. She also loved her man for the last 34 years, raised a family with him and played music with Reach for the Sky since she was 27. Joan Baez used to stop by The Horseshoe Club in Santa Clara, Ca. and enjoy Vinny and Norine while dancing with the Arthur Murray Studio group she belonged to. She was a great inspiration to Norine and told her once to get out of the clubs and keep writing, cause she was a very prolific writer and needed to save her voice!! Norine took her advice and left the clubs for awhile, and now has over 300 songs in her bank!!! She thinks of the words that Joan said to her so long ago, and often thanks her in her prayers. Norine feels that every song should paint the picture and tell the story like a good novel. The first line draws you into the story and there should be a hook that makes you want to sing along with the melodie. She believes you should only sing what you can make the people feel. In other words, make the tone of the song such that it touches the funny bone, or the heart, or the mind. You can't just sing the notes, you have to bring it to the people. Giving of yourself night after night, like it was the first time you felt the words, so that each fan who hears it, thinks it's the first time you ever sang it!
