News Update:

Guess What!  This September 18th will be 34 years since Vinny and Norine met each other.  Now isn't that sweet!!! They've been making beautiful music together since they were teenagers.  Hope you enjoy the whole family show.  It's a real kicker!

Coming your way soon up in the Northern end of the state.  We promised to get up there and we're making some headway.  Keep checking the calender for dates.

Upcoming Gigs:

Vinny will play with Steve and The Goodtimes at The Elks in Tacoma, Wa. on September 7th.  There is a 5.00 cover charge but the dance floor is big and you will dance all night long.  Enjoy an evening with a great Oldies R N R band.  Norine might even get up for a couple of songs.  You never know!

Reports about the last few gigs!

We had a great time with Gary Davis , Richard and Randy at The Labor Day Dance out on The Island Saterday night.  I'd like to thank them for asking us to play with them for this gig. All the people were special and man did they dance all night or what???. What a night of music! .  Can't wait to do that again! Love you guys!!!!  Oh, and how delightful to ride over there with Susan!!!!  We were like two school girls off to camp!!  Singing all the way there!  LOL.  It blew me away when she knew all the words to Innocent Man by Billy Joel!  Yeehaw!  Love, Norine.

Vinny had a great time with The Shelliann Parker Band Friday night.  They were Rockin and Rollin at The Royal Bear in Algona.  That place is so much fun.  Hope you all get out there to check the club out.

Well, Shotgun Red turned 75 last Sunday, and it was a huge party at The Eagles in Spanapark.  After we spent the afternoon with all our friends there, we meandered down to The Coyote to jam with Billy Farmer and his band, then on to Dawson's to sit in with Tim Hall and his band.  We got to meet and play with Billy Stoopes while there and that was a real treat.  I was a little whooped by the end of the day!!!  LOL.

We have been asked if we were gonna get more shirts and stuff to sell.  Yes, Reach For The Sky shirts will be available again soon.  We are reworking the LOGO and we think you will like the new look.  It will be the same as our cd cover plate so watch for it at an event soon.

Hi Mungo Family, just came over from myspace. This is a cool site too! Hey, can we get shirts too, if we pay for shipping? I am out in Virginia but would like one if you can do that? Love, your myspace friend, Allie.

Norine, yes, this is a really great site too. I love your myspace sites but it is interesting to see what you are doing locally too! Loved all the new material you put up on your myspace site. We may be out in Seattle this summer. Hope we can catch a show. Keep it Real, I know you will, Dan.

So, this is where you hang out? Got your bulletin on myspace. Can't wait for the cd release. Your material is sorta Irish sounding, even though it's country. I love Celtic so hope you get your stuff on CDBaby or something that will let us order online. Talk to ya later on myspace, Mike.

We love the lady song. It reminds us of grandma. You make me cry, and now I have to go call her. It is a very beautiful song and it touched my heart. Can't wait to hear what else you have!
Left by Gwen on May 12, 2007:
Yah, I like the beach tune. I can picture the sunrise. Does that mean you were there all night!!!! ROFL. Oh, and the sad one, If You Go To Her, man, that tore me up. Great material.
Left by Terry on May 12, 2007:
If You Go To Her, you wrote my sad story!!! I don't have to say anything, I'll just play the song for him. {:(
Left by Pam on May 14, 2007:
Hahaha. Great death song. Desert Dawn has a good twist. Thanks for putting it up. I don't think I've heard you play that one at the live shows???
Left by Norine on May 14, 2007:
Hi everyone, Thank You all for coming over to the site, and for all the messages you also left on my myspace site as well. We are getting great response for the songs and that is a good sign. Just think, these aren't even done in the studio yet, just the home recordings with synth drums etc. I can't wait to hear what they will sound like live in the studio. Again, thank you all and love to you all, and of course, always big hugs from big Mamma Mungo!!!! Norine.
Left by Norine on May 17, 2007:
So who do you think will win the American Idol Finale? I don't think I am stuck on Blake just because he is from up here, but I sure think he is unique and I love his voice, kinda like Sting from the Police!!!! Sad to see Doolittle leave but she will have a tremendous career anyway. Nothing can compare to her singing and talent in that group, she is a true Diva. Well, that's it for now. Can't wait to see what happens next week! Love, Norine.
Left by Jake on May 19, 2007:
Hey Mungo Mamma, how's it going up there in the Great North West?? I see that you and Mad Dog are at it again. Are you gonna put up some of that Rock N Roll that you guys wrote??? Hope you email me when you do. I want to hear Tony do the BBC song. I know a good sax man who'll take the job! Haahaahaa! Jake not Jakey!
Left by Norine on May 19, 2007:
Sorry, you'll always be little Jakey to me! xxooxxo
Left by A Country Guy on May 19, 2007:
Stopped by the main site and saw the pic so I came in to see what you had. Interesting mix of music. I can hear the celtic influence and the folksie country sound too. Good stuff. Will you be putting up some more?
Left by Sissy on May 19, 2007:
Hi Norine, I hear you take challenges for writing material. Do you have any doggy songs??? Would love to hear what you'd say in that song!!!
Left by Norine on May 19, 2007:
Hi Sissy, I hope you check back and give me more of a picture of what you want me to write. Like what the dog looks like, and how old it is, and if it's a girl or boy dog. LOL. Is it a country dog or a city dog? Does it have a name? The more specific you get, the harder it is to write, and therefore, the greater the challenge. Ahhh, now you get it!!!! Get your grey matter moving girl!
Left by Pam on May 23, 2007:
Hey Mungo Family, where are you!!!! I am used to seeing you at least once a month. You didn't leave us for the North end did you???
Left by Norine on May 29, 2007:
Hi Pam, no, we are not playing right now. Been busy recording. Getting more of our originals down on cd so our musicians can learn them, then we're all going to the studio. I will put out bulletins of our dates and events. Keep watching for them. Send me an email so you can join my email notification of events. That is the best. Love, Norine.
Left by Pam on Jun 05, 2007:
OK, the dog belongs to a rich family, but longs for the country! He runs away and finds a home on a ranch! Make this one from the dogs point of view! Love, Pam.
Left by Norine on Jun 11, 2007:
That's a good one. Hahaha. I'll have to think about this one. I've written a horse song. Hmmmm. A dog! I'll let you know if I get it done! LOL.
Left by Lisa Marie Mungo on Jun 19, 2007:

Left by Norine on Jul 02, 2007:

Wow, loved your song Dessert Dawn. I love the pickin on the guitar and the words. It's HOT! Just found the Metro site and clicked on bands just to see what was on the site. Your song was first and I wanted to hear more. Glad I found it. Where are you guys playing?
Left by Norine on Oct 11, 2007:
Sorry, haven't been on the site for awhile. Been moving and such, and just wanted to update yall. Lisa is now up here with us. She is already creating some more great music so be watching for it on her site. We'll get back to recording soon. Gotta settle in first. Hey, if you like the old timey country music head on out to Orting Eagles. They have the most incredible musicians there and I feel like I stepped back into the past. It's like having Chet and Roy and Ernest and Tom T. I'm tellin ya, I had a blast with them. I went down and played all four ssts with the guys, meager as my abilities were, and they were so gracious and helpful. Hope you all get down there to meet them. That's most Sundays so call ahead. Love, Norine.
Left by Norine on Nov 18, 2007:
Hey yall, we'll be down at The Lakewood Elks today for the Benefit for Shirley. She has been a country dance instructor for about 25 years in this area. Having a fight with the Big C, and we are all gathering to support her with a fundraiser to raise all roofs. 6 plus bands, silent auction, spagetti feed, and door entry all going to her for expenses etc. We go on at 4 PM. Buckboard starts it off at 1 PM. This will go into the night, so come on down and give some love to Shirley. Love, Norine.
Left by Terri Widener on Nov 20, 2007:
Just want to say a big THANK YOU to all of The Mungo Family. Everyone loved you at the benefit on Sunday. So much talent. Hope to see you ALL soon. Thanks again Vinny, Norine, Tony, Helena & Lisa Where are you gonna be singing next?
Left by norine on Dec 04, 2007:
Thanks Terri, We really enjoyed being a part of something so wonderful. I am so happy that all who were involved raised so much for Shirly. It was our sincere pleasure to play for the benefit. I hope you get back here to hear my latest crazy song!! LOL. It is very different! Love, Norine.
Left by Norine on Jan 19, 2008:
We lost a great musician this week. Phil Caven has passed away. A great bass player, incredable singer, and a country gentlemen. We will miss you greatly, and are very sad at your passing. We know that you are singing to those Angels and I think they are line dancing! Love, Norine.
Left by Norine on Jan 29, 2008:
Had a great time at the Orting Eagles with all my friends and family. I love playing there with all those great musicians. I want to thank everyone for such a special birthday celebration. I think it's the best birthday I have ever had. Oh, and a special thanks to Steve Johnson and Dave Perry of Steve and The Goodtimes for coming out and partying with us too. I also want to thank the Hitching Post in Federal Way for the best night I ever had doing Kariokee.. You all know I don't do the K word!!! But after the gig, we went with the kids to the club and had a great time. Nichole, the bartender, was so great!!! Again, thanks to everyone and hugs and kisses to Betty and Chet for the cake and balloons and gifts, and to my fellow birthday buddies, Mary and Bill who shared the day. What a day!!! Love Norine.
Left by Norine on Feb 24, 2008:
We are headed out to Spanaway for a little while this Sunday to visit and remenice about our fellow musician, Phil Caven. Shotgun Red will do a tribute and many of the musicians that knew Phil will be there. After that, I have to head back to Orting Eagles to play with my buddies, Country Fever. If you get the chance to slip over that way, would love to see yall. In the meantime, my thoughts and prayers to Phils family and friends. Love, Norine.

Accoustic Jam starts at 3 PM then the pot luck and then the Bands play till about 8 PM. Come on down and join a great group of folks who love all country, blue grass etc. All are welcome. Bring a dish for the pot luck if you'd like to. That way there is enough food for everyone. Love, Norine.
