Lady Selah' SuJuris has been creating ArtWorks Of Nature for over 14 years.
"The Gathering Tree" began from a bare limb tree over 18ft. tall. She found the tree laying down in the woods outside her home after a winter storm. She brought the tree home and began to trim and shape it . It ended up H 6ft. x W 5ft. x D 4ft. Selah' made the tree a home for over 50 small animals and birds all made from natural products of the earth. Butterflies, grasshoppers, Robins with eggs in nest, dragonflies, caterpillers, insects, finches, bluejays, to name a few. She placed hundreds of dried lilac flowers all through the tree limbs to give the appearance of a tree beggining to bloom in early spring. When she was finished building the homes and nest she placed the tree inside a circular tree ring base from a land clearing . She placed seed at the tree base and a tree frog was the final touch and called it "The Gathering Tree". Working on it from mid -winter to late spring, it was finally complete. It was placed in a window display of a retail store. The owner was so impressed she had a commercial made and encouraged people to come and see it. They did for months, it became so popular it was put in a museum in 1993.
Selah has been asked to mass produce her pieces of art for stores specializing in things made from nature. Selah appreciates the compliment but declines the offers.
"I like to know the person who has one of my pieces has a unique, one of a kind piece of art, representing that moment of inspiration, vision and enjoy that path of creativity."
Selah works with two different types of art:
The Native or Tribal Art, she has created "The HeadDress Series" out of natural objects from the earth.
"Life In Radiance" are works of art made from diamonds, precious, semi-precious, and gemstones from all around the earth.
Lady Selah' was inspired to create the Museum Piece:
"Midnight's Radiance Moon Dust" from a Poem she had written several years earlier, entitled "Moon Dust"
Lady Selah's art is often inspired by her poems or writings.
Lady Selah' will be Releasing a book of her poetry and writing in 2010.
