Jim Pirie is a self-taught artist living in Shoreline, Washington.
Born and raised in Seattle, the thriving city and its surrounding untamed landscape provide him with ample subjects for his craft. Jim works primarily with oils but explores an array of different mediums. His work ranges from impressionist landscapes and portraits to large-scale abstracts that completely envelop the viewer.
Jim's art is an experiment in colors and contrasts. Lights and darks used in an attempt to capture emotion, spirit, passion and energy.
Some of his many influences include Vincent Van Gogh, Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock and Leroy Neiman.
While participating in solo and group shows, Jim also donates his time, energies and artwork to many local charities.
