Biography
Artist's Statement:
"I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose
freewill" - Neil Peart - lyricist, musician, author
I like the feeling of being free that a blank canvas
provides. I am free to create, free to play, and
sometimes free to make mistakes. For this reason, I
purposefully try to avoid having a pattern or firm
constraints when I sit down to paint. Some of the best
and most satisfying pieces I have done have come when
I have absolutely no idea what I want to lay on the
canvas. Conversely, some of my worst paintings (in my
mind) have been created while trying to follow a
pattern or sketch I have made in advance.
The paintings I create are scenes I am familiar with,
mountains, trees, ocean, farmland. Having grown up in
the northwest and living here most of my life, I am
blessed to live in an area with so much diversity and
majestic beauty.

Some of the colors do not transfer well when photographed, most paintings are better balanced than the pictures convey.
