I’m presently the organist of First Congregational Church, Bellevue where I work on Wednesday evenings and Sundays. I also work occasionally with North Pacific Organ & Sound of Redmond delivering and installing digital electronic organs and securing speakers to walls or floors. EXPERIENCE FREELANCE CRAFTSMAN, Seattle area, 2000-present. Landscaping, custom arbors, design and install of drystack retaining walls, water features. Finish carpentry, decorative painting, maintenance and minor remodels. HOME REMODELER for Brenda Vanderwiel, Salt lake City, Utah 1990-2000. Complete remodel of two residences in downtown Salt Lake, the 2nd being more involved: Demolition of existing brick, lathe&plaster, and 2x4 walls. New framing of interior walls and skylight wells. Stair construction/reconstruction including hardwood banisters. Complete rewire, replacing old knob and tube, including new upgraded breaker panel. New light fixtures including recessed cans. 3 and 4-way switches, split outlets, GFCI. Rear family room add-on (concrete and exterior framing hired out) opened to new enlarged kitchen, new framing to correct out-of-plumb existing. Soft and rigid insulation, sheetrocking, custom milled tongue&groove pine for ceiling, 2 roof windows with step flashing installed with new asphalt shingles. Ceramic tile floors over cement board, tile countertops and backsplash. Installed new Corian sink and new appliances. All new cabinets installed with solid oak T&G instead of skins; upper cabinets of unfinished maple sprayed with furniture grade paint finish (compressor and auto-body spraygun). Custom milled decorative pine beam construction for ceilings. Glass block (flexible spacer and silicon) for several windows to obscure view and insulate. Designed and made several leaded glass windows for entry and living. Replaced other windows with new double-pane vinyl. Refinished hardwood floors, painted a marbleized border to hide water stains. New mantels using specialty moldings from Constantine’s of New York. Install of new 0 clearance gas fireplace venting to side. Refinished existing interior columns and doors, reworked front door to accept leaded glass panel. All new moldings throughout including 5 layer built-up crowns. Custom built-in cabinets and shelves, some extending back into otherwise unused crawl spaces. Designed and installed 2 new bathrooms (with pro plumbing help to run lines and drains). Finished unused basement into a 3rd bedroom with soundproof walls, a professional sewing studio, and a playroom. FINISH CARPENTER/HANDYMAN for Carol Snowden, Interior Designer, Salt Lake City, Utah 1995-1999. Projects included finish carpentry, hardwood stair installation, wiring outlets and fixtures, bathroom tile and fixture installation, decorative painting techniques. CUSTOM FINISHER, Once a Tree, Midvale, Utah, 1989. Sales floor work and custom staining/brush finishing of unfinished pieces personallysold. Temporary full-time work in between projects at Bigelow’s (below). CRAFTSMAN, M. L. Bigelow & Co.organ builders, American Fork, Utah. 1980-1998. Woodworking and various craft skills in making and installing custom tracker pipe organs. Inlaid music racks.
